There is a spring on my machine that is attached to one end of the self propelled mechanism but the other end is not attached to anything. Any idea where it goes to?

Wish they didn’t rivet down the starter mechanism. So much harder than it has to be.

The 19hp Courage on my Husqvarna bit the dust ar around 300 hours. Put the same B&S Opposed engine as you did except it was a 20 hp. I have 2 mowers with Opposed 20hp on them. I love those engines.

Jeff, great video! I volunteer at our church to mow the 11,000 square feet lawn. The mower I've used the last 6 years suddenly wouldn't start. I looked for the obvious to no success. Called four shops and no one wanted to work on it. After watching your video and about 7 minutes of work the little mower that could... did! Thanks to you and RUclips University.

Just used the down and dirty method using a screw and it worked absolutely perfectly. Didn't have to go to Amazon for a balance cone and was done in about 12 minutes. Thank you!!!

carburetors for these things don't seem to be that expensive ($20-$30 including gaskets). Why not just replace the carb?

When I reassembled everything the pull cord doesn't engage the engine (the cord is just pulling freely and retracting). Is there a trick to get the pull mechanism to engage with the engine? Mine is a Toro SR4, but the pull start mechanism looks identical to yours. Thanks for a great video.

Great video , I have a 16 horse Briggs Stratton twin there's vacuum on the engine i rebuild the pump as you showed ,. But it isn't sucking gas at all doesn't seem to have any vacuum leak's what is my next move i open for ideas thank you for your video

Hey man I’m glad found you I got one mower just like yours can’t get it to start. I replaced carburetor, spark plug, ignition coil, pull starter, fresh oil. Couple day ago pull the engine apart and everything looks alright. Any advice?

Should have checked RUclips first about the bolts.

Looks like poor alignment by design, bearings sounded like gravel, should have a Kevlar belt.

check the single wire that goes to the back side of key it won't start if it's loose

Thank you, thank you thank you! Pulled out this pressure washer after it sat for maybe 5 years. Wouldn’t start. Put in fresh treated fuel. Still no go. Tried spraying carb cleaner in the carburetor and it would fire up but only ran for a second or two. So I knew it was getting spark but likely no fuel. Pulled the fuel hoses off and opened the fuel valve and had fuel running. Thanks for creating this video. After pulling off the bowl and cleaning the jets as shown it started right up. Thanks again.

I have this video bookmarked. Every year I have to go through these steps before my pressure washer will start running. I drain the gas and use fuel stabilizer at the end of the season. Not sure what else I could do

Before you do anything, try lubricating the transmission with WD 40. My mower would not move until I sprayed the places where the stuff could penetrate the tranny and drive wheels and now it works fine. BTW. my unit is 17 years old

Before you attack the belt issue, make sure it doesnt needing a couple of generous shots of WD40. I had that problem and the lubricant fixed the problem

It's too bad, people spend a ton of money on new mowers, and don't take care of them. I have a 2006 Yardman 18hp B&S, and it still runs like new. Even after storing for the winter, it starts right up every spring. Only thing I've ever had to fix on it, was to repaint the deck.👍

This just saved me such a headache. Couldn’t get it to start after two years. Drained the gas, clean the cup and main jet, put new gas and boom! Fired right up. Thank you 🙏🏼

Just curious: Why do you think the Kohler Courage is junk? I know that the SINGLE CYLINDER ones were indeed junk- but I haven't heard much bad about the twins, except by people who don't know what they're talking about. [<- NOT referring to you]. I have a twin Courage on my 60" Gravely zero-turn with over 1000 hours on it, and I use it quite roughly...only had to do my first repair to it just yesterday- the fuse holder for the rectifier/regulator fuse burned up..... I'm actually quite impressed by my Courage- for a lower-end homeowner-grade injun, I use it like it was a commercial (And in-fact, the kid I bought the mower from had used it to start his lawn care business!)...so other than little electrical gremlins and things, what exactly do you find to be the problem with the twin Courages?

After taking the parts out of the coke do you rinse and dry them?

Sometimes all the problem is is the carburetor bowl solenoid getting stuck out I've had 1 that was gummed up inside the solenoid and took it off then put a other used one on and then the engine started up those do work good for stopping the gas flow soon as the key is turned off kinda better then keep turning a valve on the gas line. Bur then a in line shut off valve is good to for if you wanna take the carburetor off just keep the valve on off and unhook the line
